I remember there was a kid in my elementary school who had his ear pierced. Everybody made merciless fun of him because it apparently meant he was gay. For whatever reason I've never been able to forget him. I even remember that he loved race cars and Mary-Kate and Ashley books. In retrospect I wish I'd stood up for him or been his friend or something.
