• Pining for onlybythenight. Nobody around to keep me sane. Nobody around to tempt me out of bed with tea. Nobody around to cuddle with when I'm cold. My quality of life has vastly decreased.


• I played Final Fantasy 13 today. It was only for about four hours, but they were the longest, most torturous four hours I have ever experienced. The plot makes no sense. The characters are infuriating. You spend the entire time literally running in a straight line. It took three hours just to be able to do things other than your basic "attack". It was the opposite of fun. Then when Liz and I finally decided we couldn't take it any more, the game, which had previously shown us a cut scene, then sent us back into the game purely so we could walk up to a save point and save, and then showed us another cut scene, wouldn't give us a save point! Oh the horror.
  I've heard that it gets really fantastic if you can tough it out for the first ~6 hours, but it can't be worth it. There's just no way. The entire four hours that we played we ran in a straight line. It was just a corridor you had to run down until the next cut scene. To make it seem like you were doing things the game threw repetitive battles at you.
  
  To be fair, I actually like the battle system. It has a bit of a learning curve, but it's much better than the old turn-based system. It's still turn-based, but it has a flow to it and it's much loser to real-time. And I like the paradigms. I still prefer the Kingdom Hearts battle system though. It was much less sophisticated, but it was intuitive and way more fun.
  
  But the characters... oh the characters. Why does Sazh have a random baby Chocobo living in his afro? Is it hollow in the center? Does it use his hair as a nest?
  Lightning is a slightly upgraded version of Cloud. She is just as stubborn and completely reticent as Cloud, but more angry. She punches people a lot when they are dumb. Otherwise she is just as emotionally deficient.
  And Vanille. Where to even begin? She is infuriating. She runs with her elbows bent, flailing her hands. It's as if she's never run in her life. She is upbeat and naive to the point that you want to hit her over the head. And she has the stupidest accent I have ever heard.
  
  For some reason all three important women in this game have pink hair.
  


• How Iron Man should have ended.


• A really well thought-out and interesting interpretation of Inception as a metaphor for movie-making (and I would say story-telling in general).


• Have you heard about Shamylan's next movie? It's called Devil. You know what's it's about? "Five people are trapped in an elevator and one of them is the devil." That's the whole movie. Maybe, in the right hands, it could be something good. I highly doubt it could ever be a movie. A short story? Probably. But it's a thriller movie. Cracked breaks everything wrong with this idea down for you.


• Got caught in a really scary thunderstorm going home tonight. There were forks of lightning in the sky and it was raining to hard we couldn't see the road. At all. If there had been a car stopped in the middle of the road we would have run into it, even though we were going at 10 miles an hour.


• Figured out why I was so utterly despondent for the past few days. Hello PMS, you are not my friend. Some people get angry. Me? I just stop seeing the point of life.
